Admission Process

Belen Jesuit is a school deeply rooted in Ignatian tradition and pedagogy. These traits are what set us apart from other schools and what makes Belen Jesuit an extraordinary college preparatory school.

Admission to Belen Jesuit is selective and limited to grades 6 and 9.  All applicants must complete an online application for admissions and take an entrance examination. Belen Jesuit admits students without regard to race, religion, color, national or ethnic origin. As a Catholic college preparatory school in the Jesuit tradition, Belen Jesuit actively seeks a student body that represents a broad and diverse variety of abilities, talents, backgrounds, and interests.

Please note that our school accommodates students with disabilities in accordance with the requirements under federal and local law.  However, your child may not necessarily receive the types of accommodations or related services he may be entitled to receive at a public school, as public schools have different obligations under the IDEA. The IDEA does not apply to private schools.  We are happy to have a conversation with you about the accommodations your son may need and those we may be able to provide at our school.

We ask that you file your application with consideration for the time required to test and interview your son and receive his records and recommendation forms. The Admissions Committee strongly recommends applying early to ensure sufficient time to complete the student’s file.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
