Belen Youth Missions
For over 40 years, Belen students have participated in missionary activity in greatly impoverished areas of the Dominican Republic. In connection with other Jesuit priests of our Province (Antilles) who are serving in the Dominican Republic, we have engaged our students in service aimed at benefiting rural communities of different areas of that country.
Our students share life, faith and work with campesino communities who become our teachers in the faith, as well as friends in Christ.

Together with the local people, our students have participated in the construction of small schools, chapels, and bridges. In addition, we have been able to set up medical missions to these places with the help of Belen parents who are physicians or nurses.
BYM 2025 Important Information
Registration for the annual Belen Youth Missions (BYM) trip to the Dominican Republic will open to members of the class of 2026 on January 19, 2025, at 9 a.m.
Please note that registration is limited to 60 current Belen Jesuit juniors and is conditional on their academic and disciplinary records. Anyone who registers is not necessarily committed to attending, nor is he guaranteed to be selected for the trip. Once the first 60 slots have been taken, a waiting list will become available on the BYM webpage. Students wishing to participate in BYM will not be able to attend summer school.
Students will travel to the Dominican Republic from June 27 to July 5, 2025, to support a community in need. Father Willie, faculty and staff members, and a few alumni will accompany the students.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
