On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the Belen Alumni Association of Jesuit Schools from Cuba and Miami will host the Father Sardiña, S.J. Memorial Fishing Tournament and Dock Party. The tournament will be a meat-fish tournament. The Dock Party and Weigh-In will take place indoors at The Hangar, 3385 Pan American Dr, Miami, FL 33133. This air-conditioned facility will be an excellent place to enjoy the festivities.

‘This is an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful day on the water with friends and family, “ said Alumni Association President Jose "Pep" Lopez-Varela, '87. “It is a great time for alumni to get together and meet parents of the school and students. On behalf of the planning committee, we extend a heartfelt invitation to the Belen community to join us.”

This tournament will benefit the Fr. Jorge Sardiña, S.J. ‘45 Scholarship Fund and is open to the entire Belen community.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
