Join us this summer in Ireland & Scotland

Patrick Collins | OSP Europe Moderator
If you are thinking about an experience this summer for your son’s educational, spiritual, and personal growth, Belen’s Overseas Study Program to Europe might be the answer.

Since 1994, the Social Studies Department has created annual summer travel programs to expand the world view of 958 Belen students and family members.  The 2018 itinerary to Ireland and Scotland offers an enriching and reasonably-priced experience into the character of two of the most influential European homelands in American history.  Each step of the journey has been planned to complement the goals of the Belen Jesuit curriculum.  Come join in!

You are invited to join us for an information meeting on October 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cosculluela Hall at Belen Jesuit.  Our special guest speaker will be Belen parent Mr. Ian O’Flaherty, Honorary Consul of Ireland in Miami. Honorary Consul O’Flaherty will announce his plan of assisting the Belen trip in the Republic of Ireland and with Irish President Michael O’Higgins.

It will be a pleasure for chaperones Fr. Christian Saenz, SJ, Ms. María Inés Leáñez, and I to meet you and discuss the advantages of this experience for your son and family.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
