Music, Praise and Inspirational Presentations Coming to Campus
Robert Artiz | Director of Campus Ministry
Renowned musician Mike Mangione will be in concert on Friday, January 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Garrido Family Plaza to kick off National Catholic Schools Week, which this year is January 28 – February 3.
Not only is Mike an exceptional musician, but he is also a man of tremendous faith with an incredible testimony. He uses his music to share this testimony with others, while at the same time showcasing his gifts and glorifying God. This is not a night of praise and worship, rather a laid back event where we can come together as a community to enjoy great music and witness what it means to truly have an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Mike is cool, folky, relatable and extremely dynamic. We hope to see everyone there! There will be a $5 cover charge to support Mike, his family and his ministry. Please invite your friends, family and anyone who you think would love and appreciate amazing talent and a truly unique night.
On Tuesday, January 30, we will also be hosting part two of the “You’re Amazing” Tour “I WILL WIN (RUN to the FIRE)” produced by the Hard as Nails Missionaries and Justin Fatica. Fatica, a nationally known speaker and the “Hard as Nails” missionary team, will bring a message of hope that inspires making a difference in the world. Through the witness of their own faith journey, God once again provides us an opportunity to shake us out of our comfort zones, remind us of our dreams, and assist us over our fears. The event will once again feature assemblies with age appropriate dialogue and interaction for both our high school students (9-10:30 a.m.) and middle school (1:30-3:00 p.m.). EWTN will also be on campus during Fatica’s presentations recording and interviewing participants. The network will air portions of the event during their broadcast as part of an ongoing series and will also share the experience on their social media platforms.
Justin and the "Hard As Nails" Missionaries will also be leading an Evangelization Workshop (during 4th period) for all of our high school peer ministers. The “I WILL WIN” presentation will conclude with a Family Community Event in the evening. Anyone interested in attending the evening presentation of “I WILL WIN (RUN to the FIRE)” on January 30 at 7 p.m. in the Roca Theater, can RSVP by emailing Campus Ministry - Zilkia Jimenez at zjimenez@belenjesuit.org. Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
