Battle Like a Wolverine Registration Opens

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Throughout the month of October, students will raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
The Battle Like a Wolverine campaign is kicking off its 6th year of fundraising for this importance cause – having already raised over $40,000 since it began in 2011. The school-wide campaign includes students wearing pink ties, as well as participating in the annual 5K run/walk/jog.

Pink ties will go on-sale in the Campus Store on September 18 for $20. Students will be allowed to wear the pink ties throughout the month of October. Registration for the Battle Like A Wolverine 5K is now open at www.belenjesuit.org/battlelikeawolverine. This family friendly event is open to all age levels and experience.

The 5K will take place on the Belen Jesuit campus in the de la Cruz Stadium on Saturday, October 28. The 5K will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is $20 and same day registration is $30.

The net proceeds from all the above listed fundraising events and items will benefit our partner, Miami Cancer Institute. Together, we strive to provide mammograms for uninsured individuals and support the Care Coaches.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
