Destination College

Lisa Bustillo Peterson | Director of College Counseling
While it feels as though we are beginning a new school year after Hurricane Irma, we are actually almost in October, which means that the College Counseling Office is in full swing!
Whether you are a senior or a freshman, college is, and should be, on your mind to some extent.

On September 20 we hosted our annual College Admissions: All You Need to Know information session for our sophomores and juniors. Soon, we will host a similar event for our freshmen. On October 4, we are hosting a Financial Aid Night for our senior parents.

In other news, all high school students and parents are invited to attend the Fordham University information session on October 11 and the Notre Dame University information session on October 16. Both sessions are taking place in the Roca Theater at 7:00 p.m. on their respective dates.

Finally, all juniors and their parents are invited to attend the Miami Invitational College Fair on October 15. Please be on the lookout for an email from your college counselor with all the necessary information.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
