Closing out the spring season

Luis Dulzaides | Director of the Ignatian Center for the Arts
As the Ignatian Center for the Arts closes its 2017-2018 season, we are still buzzing from the excitement of our Spring Musical, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". Over 6 nights, our theater was filled with music and the crowds were wowed by the talents of our young men.

Our Troupe 4666 of the International Thespian Society competed at the State Festival in Tampa in March and delighted the crowd with their opening performance. Ensemble acting entries featuring: Diego Navarro, Anthony Abinader, Sion Bissessar and Placido Valdes, as well as the ensemble of Diego de la Vega, Matthew Johnson, Lucas de la Guardia, Daniel Oliva, Julian Ramos and Jose Garcia-Chirino captured ratings of excellent. Scoring superior ratings were: Solo Musical entries performed by Andres Larrea and Placido Valdes; a Duet Musical entry performed by Andres Larrea and Peter Lopez; and a duet acting entry performed by Heinz Luedeking and Kristian Perez. Congratulations to the troupe and their Co-directors Francisco Padura and Leo Williams.

Now as the spring season comes to a close at ICA, we look forward to our Spring Concert Series. The opening concert will be held on April 25th and will feature our recently award winning Belen Jazz Band, returning from their triumphant accomplishment at the Festivals of Music in Chicago. We will end our Spring Concert Series on April 26th by showcasing our up and coming artists in the band program. All tickets are $15 and on-sale online at http://www.belenjesuit.org/rocatheater.

Our Belen Student Art Invitational in the Saladrigas Gallery will showcase the work of our talented art students. We are excited to see our students' work on exhibit. We will also be hosting our final Gallery Concert Series in May showcasing the talents of our very own Belen Jesuit Band Faculty. Stay tuned for more details.

We hope that you will be able to join us for all of our Spring Events.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
