This is Belen Gala

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
Since before the school year began, the Gala committee has been hard at work planning the annual Gala. This year’s theme is “This is Belen” and will celebrate all the wonderful things that make our school special.

The committee of Belen moms is working behind the scenes to acquire auction items, sell program book ads, and secure corporate sponsorships, among other tasks. The committee is chaired by Patricia Paredes and Claudia Navarro.

“The gala is such a wonderful event,” said Paredes. “It’s an evening for parents, alumni and faculty to get together for a fun night out and by the end of the event they are guaranteed to walk away with great memories. It’s certainly a night you won’t want to miss!”

The gala will be held at the University of Miami Donna E. Shalala Student Center on Saturday, November 3, 2018. The event is limited to 500 guests and tickets are going quickly. Click here for more information. Students can also take part by participating in the class pages.

“We are very excited to be working with Mena Catering who will provide us with an amazing dinner. We are also going to have Groove Republik performing live,” said Director of Parent & Corporate Engagement Yvonne von der Osten. “The food will be amazing, the décor is going to be spectacular, the entertainment is going to be fun, and most of all we will be raising money for a wonderful cause – the Belen Financial Assistance Program.”

During the gala, the winner of the 2019-2020 tuition raffle will be announced. Valued at $16,500, each ticket will be sold for $100 and can be purchased online, www.belenjesuit.org/tuitionraffle. Anyone who purchases 5 tickets ($500) will receive one free. Current senior parents (2018/2019) are encouraged to participate, and if selected as the winner, will receive a reimbursement up to $16,000. The winner need not be present at the Gala to win.

“Our hope is to make this event the most successful ever in order to assure that money is not an obstacle when a family desires a Catholic, Jesuit education for their son,” said Navarro.

Thanks to the tremendous support of Gala sponsors, donors and guests, we are able to make this event successful. There are various ways you can support our efforts to help make the promise of a Jesuit education a reality for the young men who proudly call Belen their second home! Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
