Matthew Jordan ’08 | Inter Club Council Coordinator
With over 30 clubs and 12 honor societies, there’s something for everyone at Belen Jesuit. Students will have a chance to check out the clubs at the fair on Wednesday, September 5 during 4th, 5th and 6th periods in the Garrido Family Plaza.
From middle to high school, our young men are given the opportunity to serve our community, foster creativity, network, learn and have fun. Whether it’s gazing at the stars as part of the Astronomy Club, learning another language in the American Sign Language Club or performing community service through the Key Club, our Wolverines can showcase our Ignatian ideals of the Magis, Cura Personalis and Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
As an alumnus, who had the honor of serving in Student Council, I can attest to the fact that getting involved makes your Belen experience better. The Belen brotherhood is formed, not just in the classroom, but through our shared experiences in activities, athletics, and clubs. Get involved! Do not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and join a club, meet new people, or challenge yourself with a new experience, and if you don’t find what you’re looking for, start a new club.
Our campus transforms after the final bell, and so do our students. They become nationally ranked debaters, stellar chess players, and most importantly, their brotherhood is strengthened every day through our clubs. If you have any questions please email me at majordan@belenjesuit.org.
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
