#BNetworked: Taxfyle

Teresa Martinez | Director of Communications
With over 7,000 alumni around the world and with a reinvigorated desire to showcase our alumni, Belen is launching a new campaign called, #BNetworked.

“The goal is to highlight companies which are either alumni owned or have a group of alumni that work together. We aim to showcase how the bonds formed at Belen, regardless of your graduation year, unite us both in our professional and personal life,” said Carlos Bravo ‘86, Alumni Association Executive Director.

“Belen for life,” is often a phrase used by alumni, and this new campaign aims to put a spotlight on how many alumni work together and how the lessons learned at Belen continue to influence their professional lives.

The first company to be profiled is Taxfyle. Launched in 2015 by classmates Richard “Ricky” Laviña ‘05 and Michael Mouriz ’05, Taxfyle is the on-demand tax filing platform that quickly and efficiently connects individuals and entitles, with the licensed professional, to have their taxes prepared and filed.

Ricky answered the following questions.

How many alumni work at the company? Six:  Paul Ingelmo '07, Software Engineer; Phillip Ingelmo '10, Lead Mobile Engineer, Richard Laviña '05, CEO, Nicholas Keenan '15, Software Engineer, Felipe Montes de Oca '15, Operations Associate and Michael Mouriz '05, COO.

What are the advantages of working with fellow Alumni? Culture at a young company is important and the Belen Alumni here at Taxfyle share the same core values as the founding team. This makes for high quality communication of ideas and decision making.

Do you have any job openings? Currently looking for a Jr. Designer and a Web Development Intern: https://taxfyle.com/careers.

Of what are you most proud? Ninety percent of startups in the U.S. fail, so the fact that we just raised a Series A while preserving our headquarters in Coral Gables makes us a tremendous success already.

Do you offer an alumni discount? Coupon Code: BELEN25 for $25 off all personal and business tax return filings https://app.taxfyle.com/login.

Are you an alumnus with a company and have your Belen brothers working with you? Do you work at a company with several alumni? If so, we want to hear from you! Email us a group photo and indicate the name of the company and those pictured from left to right including graduation year to

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
