Wolverine Athletics

Belen Jesuit has many attributes that make the school successful in our community - high academic achievements, a strong Christian service program, participation in clubs and school activities, and a highly competitive sports program. One key element in our school is the student-athlete.

Athletic achievement requires discipline, perseverance, and endurance. Our student-athletes exemplify these traits. They are sportsmen who compete without compromising their academic responsibilities or forgetting those less fortunate than themselves. They embody what our founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola, envisioned - a well-rounded student who seeks God in all things and succeeds for the greater glory of God (A.M.D.G).

Belen Jesuit has a tradition of excellence in athletics and has repeatedly won championships in various sports. Belen Jesuit athletics is comprised of 50 teams in 16 sports. Interscholastic athletics are essential to the total curriculum, and we encourage every student to participate.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
