College Commitment Ceremony
The Belen Jesuit community proudly announces that three student-athletes signed their national letters of intent to play their sport at the collegiate level. The commitment ceremony took place on November 13 at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in the Roberto Surís Athletic Center.
“These students are great examples of what hard work and dedication to their sport and academics can accomplish,” said Lázaro Fernández, Athletic Director. “We look forward to watching them flourish at the next level and will be cheering them on.”

“I am proud of each of these young men who, as true student-athletes, have achieved the Magis - on the field, on the water or race course and in the classroom. Congratulations to them and their families, coaches, and teachers who have supported their formation at Belen,” said José E. Roca, Principal.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
