Join the Alumni Association, Key Club, and volunteers not just from Belen Jesuit but from the community at large to help pack 40,000 meals for those most in need.
“Helping Hands” will take place on Saturday, April 1 at 7:45 a.m. at Belen Jesuit. The meal packaging event benefits the poor in Burkina Faso, Africa.
The event will begin with refreshments, coffee and doughnuts, followed by mass celebrated by Father Willie. This is the third consecutive year of our Associations' participation. If we reach our goal of 40,000 meals this year, we will have completed 100,000 meals packed by Belen for this project.
This is an opportunity to strengthen our community by having our Alumni and students work hand in hand for a good cause. I hope that you are able to participate with all of your families and classmates in order to make it happen for that very needy community.
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
