100 students to be confirmed

Patricia A. Bustamante | Assistant Principal for the Middle School
One hundred eighth grade students will receive the sacrament of confirmation in the spring.
At the All Saints Day Mass on November 1, those students made their confirmation commitment before the Belen community. Our eighth grade Theology teachers have begun to prepare their students by helping them select a saint name, their sponsor, and more importantly teaching them about this beautiful sacrament which will fully initiate them to the Catholic Church. Campus Ministry will be organizing their retreat and continue guiding them in service opportunities.

Being able to journey with our students towards this important milestone in their faith formation fills us all with tremendous joy. Our eighth grade candidates will be confirmed on March 10, 2018 at our neighboring parish, Prince of Peace. We ask all members of the Belen family to keep these students in their prayers.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
