More than 30 Belen Jesuit students and five young ladies from Coral Reef High School, Immaculata- La Salle High School and Doral Academy have been working tirelessly since late August on the fall Production, “Moon Over Buffalo”.
The comedic talents of our students will be highlighted in this production. Playing the lead role is sophomore Kristian Perez, who along with the rest of the cast, will take over the Roca Theater stage November 30, December 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. The show also features Heinz Luedeking '20, Beltran Ulloa '19 and Daniel Oliva '21.
The hilarious “Moon Over Buffalo” centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf, old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body.
Don't expect to come away from the show having gained any ground-breaking insights, but we guarantee you'll forget where you are and be thoroughly entertained by an extraordinarily talented cast in this zany adventure!
Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
