The Belen Community is proud to announce that senior Joshua Collins signed his national letter of intent to run Cross Country at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The signing ceremony took place on February 5 at Belen Jesuit with his family, classmates, coaches and teammates present.

“It is a privilege to commit to such a prestigious university and continue my running career at the collegiate level,” said Collins. “Most importantly, I will have the opportunity to incorporate the faith formation I received at Belen Jesuit in the next phase of my life.”

“I'm humbly proud to have coached Josh Collins and I'm so fired up to see him going to a great academic school in Florida,” said Cross Country Head Coach Frankie Ruiz ’96. “Josh definitely left a great mark on our program, having been one the best runners I have ever coached. I have no doubt that Josh will also be a big contributor to the future success of the cross country program at Embry Riddle.”

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain.  The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline.  In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty.  The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.  Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
