FR. IZQUIERDO MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Fr. Izquierdo Memorial Golf Tournament is held each year in memory of our beloved Fr. Izquierdo. This event benefits the Financial Assistance Program.
The 25th Annual Father Izquierdo Golf Tournament will be held on May 20, 2024, at La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach.

Father Jose Maria Izquierdo, S.J. was a respected teacher, administrator, and priest at Belen Jesuit who dedicated nearly three decades of his life to Belen in Miami and El Colegio de Belén in Cuba.
Father Izquierdo is remembered by Belen alumni as being one who enforced discipline with care and love and someone that was always there for his students. In May 1982, he received the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa for his contribution to the formation of so many graduates of Belen who were distinguished students at the University of Georgetown and other universities. This inspired the formation of an annual golf tournament, which honors Father Izquierdo and benefits the Financial Assistance Program.
Fr. Izquierdo, S.J. died on May 22, 1997. He was posthumously inducted into the Belen Hall of Fame in 2022. For more information, click here.

Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow. Today, Belen Jesuit sits on a 30-acre site in western Dade County, only minutes away from downtown Miami.
